Handouts
should be in a common document format. The most common formats are
PowerPoint (.PPT, .PPTX), Microsoft Word (.DOC, .DOCX), and Portable
Document File (.PDF).
Tips on Creating a PowerPoint based
Handout
Using Pictures
• JPEG (.jpg) images are the preferred file format over GIF
(.gif) or Bitmap (.bmp).
• Resolutions higher than 72 dpi will not enhance the quality,
they will only unnecessarily increase the file size
of your presentation.
Fonts
• ONLY STANDARD WINDOWS installation fonts such as Arial,
Verdana and Times Roman will be supported.
For MAC Users
• Save all picture files as JPG or BMP NOT TIFF
• Save all movie files as MPG or AVI NOT QuickTime
• Remember to include the actual MPG or AVI file in the same
folder as your presentation.
• Be sure to check the presentation(s) on a PC before submitting
• Use common cross platform fonts such as Arial, Courier and
Times New Roman
• Limit animations, not all animations transfer cross platform
